i was in your group crit last week so i can definitely spot out the improvements, and I think your direction since last week is much stronger. The longer plucking of the string which you didn't have last week, made it much stronger and i'm immediately able to tell that it is apart of a musical instrument. You effectively made a lot of tension that even before the string breaking, the audience would be able to predict something was gonna pop. The breaking of the string looks very natural, a big improvement from last time. Very Excellent film.
i think maybe a tighter curl after the "snap", or something less symmetrical (perhaps abnormalities add to the accident-factor), i wrote during the group viewing "the boing-effect after plucking may be too long or too wide (a tighter vibration might enhance the snap action, i feel a taut string is more likely to snap with such great intensity", but seeing it on a smaller screen, i don't see this as a problem (the string seems to vibrate in place much more than I had though), but still consider it. colors are nice and classic, connotes the essence of a violin. as far as passage of time and mood goes, maybe another pluck would add to the unexpectedness of the snap (or a few right after another). and the differences b/w your digital and analog are few, your early sketches of what you wished it look like translated clearly with little that needed to change when translated digitally (good planning on your part, great understand of motion and action/reaction concerning a violin).
Adding on to what i had just posted, I took a longer look and I was wondering what the idea behind the color choices were. I think that you could probably refer the violin more with color choices, or refer to classical music. I think softer colors would've been more appropriate especially for the first verb, the colors were a bit too bright for me, but that's just me. The font choice suited the classical and/or instrumental theme. It seems though that you have a good understanding of Flash, story and pacing by how smoothly it all went.
I think all three of your actions are clear and relate back to your activity right away.
TUNE: I think the way represented tune is great. Starting from blury to clear makes sense. often times tho when tuning an instrument your kind go past being tuned and have to fiddle with it to get it to be right. It may have been nice to see that give and take of going to clear, then back to blurry, then back to clear. I noticed you tried something like that with the last two letters, but it doesnt really seem intentional.
PLUCK: Your pluck is strong and i love how it feels like the line is actually vibrating - which im sure was no easy task.
SNAP: The snap is also clear, i just wish that it didnt stop mid air. I really want to see the end of the snap where all the the separated letters fall of the string fall off the frame. It would have created a nice ending to the animation as well.
Overall im not sure about the color choice - it seems sophisticated which relates to a violin but for some reason it makes me feel uncomfortable.
