multimedia experience: poster and community concepts

Along with some of our initial ideas about how our community can help out storm chasers.

need: a way to gain weather information without hassling the National Weather Service
solution: storm chasers with appropriate equipment and skill can gain this information and send it to the website (via laptop or phone) for others to access, steering traffic away from the NWS.

need: storm chasing buddies (with a variety of skills to create a more complete team)
solution: chasers can access profiles to other members of the community who are also looking for companions in their area. users can "tag" their specialities in the field, allowing other users to find people who can aid them in their chase.

need: providing photos/videos to storm spotter education efforts/storm research in general
solution: photos and videos taken during the chase can be uploaded immediately to the site, and combined, can record a fuller and more in-depth journey of the storm as it travels along its path.

need: a way to avoid interfering with other spotters during a chase.
solution: a device carried by the spotters (an iPhone logged into the site?) tracks their positioning via GPS and transmits it onto a map on the site, so spotters can avoid running into other teams and spread themselves out more effectively.

need: access to equipment
solution: community members can post equipment they no longer need for sale, to offer up at more affordable prices for chasers who are looking for a better deal.
