degree project: experiments

For starters, a little bit of revision to my question from last time with help from a few classmates. Maybe it's a little bit closer to where it needs to be now?

"How can an interactive system using various mediums help middle school students across the globe learn about one another, embrace cultural differences and create new and unlikely friendships?"

That being said, I've started to formulate some experiments. I wasn't really sure where to begin, so I started off by making lists about what kinds of things we share with one another (introductions, hobbies, interests, etc) and how we interact/trade this information (letters, e-mail, phone, etc). From there I kind of decided that perhaps the right place to start experimenting was with introducing one another, or creating ice breakers of some sort. So here are some things to think about/ideas I started generating:

- How does a hand-written letter compare to an e-mail?
- Can a set of guided questions (survey) be handed to both participants so they receive the same information from one another?
- What if they just exchanged pictures? Music? Video?
- What if they started off by interviewing each other (sending each other questions), not introducing themselves?
- What if questions are randomly drawn, answered and sent to one another?
- What if the questions are randomly generated on a website form and then sent to the other participant?
- What if participants sent one another video introductions? Introducing themselves? Their home/town/environment?

Probably more to be added to this as I think of them/try things out. Any other ideas or suggestions welcome!
